This four week class will walk you through the process of making a wool rug or wall hanging with an Oxford Punch Needle. Students will learn how to choose rug backing, the qualities of a good rug yarn, design options, how to stretch cloth and transfer a pattern, techniques for punching, and finally how to finish their rug or wall hanging.
This is a beginner friendly class, and is fairly easy on the hands compared to some fiber arts. Students will use class tools, but can purchase their own from us if desired.
Punched rugs use a considerable amount of yarn, and all materials are included in the class fee.
Jill is the owner of Eco-Friendly Crafts. She crochets, knits, makes rugs, and sculpts things. Rugs are a passion, and she occassionally teaches classes in Oxford punch needle, traditional rug hooking, and locker hook rugs.
