Felting is the process of creating felt. This is done by using very sharp, barbed needles to rub two pieces of wool together. Wool fibers have scales, which when properly brought together tend to lock, which results in joining the two pieces of fabric into a new material, much denser and tougher, that we know as felt. This process requires the right hand tools, and our triangle point felting needles are that tool. Felting needles are exceptionally sharp and also feature tiny barbs near the point.
These notched barbs are the way in which the wool catches and rubs together to create felt. Felting needles come in different gauges, and #40 gauge are some of the most popular and widely used gauges of needles there are. Ours are the highest quality, and make for efficient and easy work.
